My Virtualahan Family

In my life, never did I imagine that I will be able to join a community that embraces everyone unconditionally. I honestly have come to a point of thinking that people judge people, no matter what. That biased thought faded when I met the passionate people behind Virtualahan - a multi-awarded social enterprise situated here in Davao City.

Family photo. :)

Virtualahan is a social enterprise that works with people who have medical, physical, and mental disabilities as well as abled individuals. It provides an intensive digital skills training to help them start working as online service providers such as data entry, writing, transcription, social media marketing and management, research, graphic designing, SEO, and web development.

Virtualahan was coined from the words "Virtual" which means occurring or existing on computers or on the internet, and "Lahan" from the Filipino word "Eskwelahan" which means "school."
Currently, I volunteer for them as a transcriber for deaf students.

Last July 23, 2017, we had our Team Building at Lantaw Bukid, Tugbok, Davao City. By then we're able to meet and talk with each other - coaches, volunteers, students and their families.

Team building activity with our founder, Ryan Gersava. :)
Boodle fight lunch! Yummy! :)

Last October 1, 2017, we had an in-person meet up with Virtualahan's Davao based batch 17 students to celebrate their success in completing our 6 weeks of intensive online job skills training. Stories of struggles and inspiration were shared as we feasted over delicious spaghetti, binatog, burgers, and doughnuts.

Wacky!
Sharing of life stories. Amazing people! :)

“Disability is a matter of perception. If you can do just one thing well, you’re needed by someone," Martina Navratilova said. With that being said, when should learn to remove the "DIS" in our "ability."

Fly, #TeamVirtualahan!
Soar high, Virtualahan! :)
